What is truth? Tim, I'm learning my way around this forum. You wrote me but I lost that place. So maybe you will see this response. First of all I thank you for the welcome. It seems to me though that you are not “desiring” to accept Bible truth. I know that is strong language but these issues have been argued since the days of the “apostasy” just after the apostle John’s death. I understand that the application of Pr 8:23 to Jesus was the key in these arguments but not without numerous supports, that Jesus was indeed created thus not the Almighty God. Jesus said that “No man can come to me unless the Father, who sent me, draws him.” (John 6:44) Do you sincerely believe that the teaching of eternal damnation in hell as you posted yesterday, draws people to God? In the minds of just and loving people, it is a repelling thought! The Bible, on the other hand, teaches that “God is love” and that cruelty, even to animals, is abhorrent to him. 1 John 4:8; Proverbs 12:10; Jeremiah 7:31; Jonah 4:11. Recall what Jesus said about the Christian way: “Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.” Christendom (those that claim to believe the Bible yet believe in the trinity, immortality of the soul, and eternal torment) are many in comparison to the few true worshipers of the Almighty God Jehovah, as has always been the case in man’s history. Shame on you and others that draw people to worship Jesus as the Almighty instead of whom Jesus said to worship. ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.’” (John 20:17)(“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).—Mr 3:17; 5:41; 7:11; 15:34. Jesus Christ promises the spirit-begotten Christians that the one who conquers, who endures faithfully to the end, will be made “a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will by no means go out from it anymore.” (Re 3:12) I could go on and on and on showing that Jesus’ Father is the Almighty God and Jesus is his only begotten son. Also, Jesus said that at John 15:18,19 “If the world hates YOU, YOU know that it has hated me before it hated YOU. 19 If YOU were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because YOU are no part of the world, but I have chosen YOU out of the world, on this account the world hates YOU. I see that Christendom is not hated by the world but is itself part of the world. Jesus and the early Christians were flogged, killed, and hated. Today true Christians are still killed and hated for following the Bible truths. They are imprisoned for not killing fellow Christians in war. They are hated for believing that Jesus is God’s son and not God himself. True Christians are hated for exposing the pagan roots of their holidays such as Christmas, and Easter, and tolerating abortion, premarital sex, and homosexuality in their memberships. I may write more later Tim. Tara |

Greetings Tara! I saw it! ;-) You touched upon so many different issues, but allow me to address a few of them. 1) Is Jesus 'a god' or 'God? John 1:1-4 quite clearly teaches that Jesus is God. Now, most cults will try to deny this and make the translation say that Jesus is 'a god', not 'God'. This is inappropriate based upon the Greek text, but even if it were textually possible, it creates a contradiction with other Scriptures. You speak of 'accepting Bible truth'. How about Is. 43:10? Do you accept it my friend? It says, "'You are my witnesses,' declares the LORD, 'and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.'" Now, how could Jesus be 'a god' if Is. 43:10 says that there are no other gods? How could Jesus have been created by God, if Is. 43:10 says that no gods were formed after Him? Yet, John 1:1 says that He was God. This seems fairly simple to me, and Biblical! :-) There is only one God. Jesus is called God. He must be God. How many gods do you believe in? 2) God is Love. Yes, God is love. However, He is also just and will not leave sin unpunished forever. Do you recall all of the times that God commanded entire cities of people killed because of their sin? Do you remember Sodom and Gommorrah? God's love is demonstrated when, like with Ninevah, He warns us of the consequences of sin and provides a way of salvation. By dying on the cross for us, God acted in grace and mercy. But, the final authority on these issues is not what people find 'repelling'. It is what God's word says. So, until you can show me why Luke 16 and Rev. 20 do not refer to an eternal fiery punishment for for those who are in sin, I will have to 'accept Bible truth' on this point. 3) Worship: There are several places where Christ is worshipped: 1) Mt. 2:2 - "and asked, 'Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.'" 2) John 9:38 - "Then the man said, 'Lord, I believe,' and he worshiped him." 3) Heb. 1:6 tells us that the angels worship Him. 4) The Lamb is worshipped in Rev. 5. 5) Rev. 14:7 commands us to worship Him who made the heavens, the earth, and the seas. According to John 1:1-4 (and other verses), this was Jesus. Yet, in none of these cases, did Jesus protest that anyone should not worship Him! Why not, since Scripture says that we must worship only God? Jesus is God! If you want to go into more detail on these issues, it would probably be best to divide them up into seperate posts. ;-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
