I am desperately trying to convince my 2 children that they must believe in Jesus and what he did for us in order that they may enter into heaven. They desperately want proof of everything I'm saying. "How can we be sure that this stuff is not just an interpretation?" "If a person believes that Jesus is our Savior but is obnoxious do they go to heaven, but a person who takes great care of family and little children and does good works all day long for the school, library and comunity but does not believe....is going to hell? You said the perfect words. "Good works" The Bible says that its not by works that we are saved but by grace. Good works alone do not save people. It is a persons faith and Gods grace that saves us. Keep your kids active in the word of God and just make sure that the seeds just keep getting planted the Bible also says that the word of God never comes back void. Keep them active and keep sowing good seeds to them and you will sow children born again in Christ! |

I told my children that we are saved by faith. If the Bible says that we are saved by grace, is that one in the same? If you have grace then you have faith? What they want to know is, if a person isn't good, hurts people but has faith that Jesus is our Savior does that person go to heaven? But one that is good and caring but does not believe will go to hell? These are the things that they want to know. I want to have the answers for them. I'm so afraid they turn away if I give them the wrong answers . How do I answer them? |

Yes, we are saved by faith, but it also requires that we ask God into our hearts and repent of our sinful ways. It says that faith without works is dead. I believe that to mean that after you have accepted Jesus and asked him into your life, that you become saved. In turn, when you repent and start to follow in Jesus' footsteps, you will do good works because your "nature" will change. Just because you believe in your head doesn't mean you are saved and go to Heaven. It says in the bible that even the demons believe... However, they aren't going to Heaven. Continue in the word of God and you will see the differences between having faith and a relationship with God instead of just "head" knowledge. Dat | ||||||
