1 | why do we sin when sin has no mastery? | Bible general Archive 1 | Radioman2 | 80770 | ||
"Paul said he crucified the flesh daily." I wonder WHERE (book, chapter and verse) it says that. |

Radioman I fall on my sword. :-o I have listened to one too many sermons. I have picked this phrase up much like many people do with the phrase "God moves in wondrous/marvelous ways His wonders/miracles to perform.” However I find I must deal with my flesh daily fending off it’s desire rather than my spirits desires. Paul did say he crucified the flesh and that he died daily, but alas not in the same verse! EdB |

EdB, Perhaps people are thinking of Luke 9:23 where Jesus spoke of His followers having to "deny" himself and take up his cross daily." And in the KJV 1 Cor 15:31 Paul says: "I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our lord, I die daily." I think it is safe to say that Paul after his conversion was a follower of Christ and obeyed this command. See also Matt 10:38; Luke 14:27 Sometimes what Jesus said gets lost in all the hubub over Paul. Emmaus |

Emmaus Thanks for your thoughts on this. Yes your right we do have to deny ourselves and take up the cross daily. In 1 Cor 15:31 Paul does say he dies daily but in context he is talking in reference to religious persecution. However Paul is saying he has to control the flesh rather than react to those that persecute him, so the meaning is there. Your absolutely right about Jesus getting lost in all the hubub whether over Paul, which Bible we carry, or which church we attend. Thanks again my brother EdB |
