There is a popular belief that the Jews need to return to Israel, or regather. According to Scripture, has not that already happened? I understand that God has already fulfilled most of His promises to Israel. Why do so many people think that in the middle east conflict Israel has to completely occupy all of the traditional land that God set aside for them in Genesis? Any copmments? PJC |

Hello PJC, I think you are right that the Jews don’t need to occupy all of the land at this time but in order for the Antichrist to make a seven-year covenant with Israel they did have to be a Nation. Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. This didn’t happened in 1948, yet they didn’t occupy the Holy city until the seven day war was won and then they took full occupation of Jerusalem. It is my firm opinion that before Matt. 24:15 can take place there must be the rebuilding of a temple where the Jews will be engaged in daily sacrifices and offerings. Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) This didn’t happen in AD 70 when SPQR tore down the temple. True it was torn down but it wasn’t desecrated as it was when in the day before Christ during the time when Maccabaues lead the Jews in revolt because there was a pig sacrificed in their temple. I believe the Matt. 24:15 parallels 2 Thess. 2:3,4 as an event. 2 Thes. 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. My two cents worth, CDBJ |
