How can I know if what I heard was truly from God? I am new to the forum and have been hearing people say that God speaks through His Word- His Son(John1). Okay! I want to get some clarification--- so is that to say that God cannot tell a person-"Don't go to that place" that particular thing is not "in the Bible" so is it not of God. I'm being way over the top in order to get some understanding. Or are you saying that a scripture or something from the Word should always confirm what you "heard" in order for you to know that it was God. Is this what it means to "test" the spirit. The main reason why I ask is because I believe God spoke something to me but it doesn't make ssense to me seeing as though I'm trying to get closer to Him and what I heard doesn't line up at all in the natural, what I can see right now. I didn't hear that I should act on this, but it has been bothering me cause I'm wondering if it's me or the devil trying to get my mind off. I don't want to be operating in familiar spirits. What's a suggestion? Sorry this is so long!! |

Is there specific scripture against what you heard? Do you know in your heart that is is wrong? God does not always make 'sense' to us but what He will direct you to do will in no wise go crosswise with scripture. Learning His voice or learning to follow the guidence of the Holy Spirit takes time, and practice. Do not be affraid and it is okey to ask God to give you assurance as long as your heart is to do His will. He understands we are children. Purhaps a word study of 'obey' might help. Does this help? |

Dear gracefull, I believe that the Bible teaches that the purose we were created for is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. Therefore, when we are faced with decisions and we truly want to know God's will, then we should ask ourselves: "Will what I decide to do, glorify God?" John |
