2 | The Human Race... A few questions | Bible general Archive 1 | Emmaus | 73333 | ||
purduebid, A few questions to ponder Regarding the human race in general terms: 1 Is human nature inherently good or evil? It was inherently good as God originally created it Genesis 1:31), but since the fall it it has an inherent tendency toward evil and death, which is known as consupiscence. 2 Are human biengs born good? Good in the sense of holy, No. "By Adam's sin many (all men) were made sinners...sin came into the world through one man and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all men sinned" Romans 5:12,19. Humans are born in a state of sin that is "contracted " by the transmission of a fallen human nature from parents. This state of original sin is a condition of fallen human nature, not a committed act. But the fallen nature and state of original sin leads humans inevitably to personal acts of sin. 3 Is human life more valuable than any other life on earth? why? Yes, because only humans are created in the "image and likeness of God," that is capable of self knowledge, possessing a will and freely able to enter into communion with other persons, even as God does. Human beings are the summit of God's plan of creation and though the image and likeness of God was defaced and crippled by original sin it was not completely destroyed. 4 Are there any answers in the Bible to current issues related to human life? Although many issues related to human life today ( in vitro fertilization, genetic manipulation, cloning, euthanasia, abortion, etc.) are not in the Bible, basic principals found in the Bible related to human dignity and the perogatives of God and man can be applied to draw moral and ethical conclusions about current issues.
