Dr X We are not given that information in the Bible. However since we know from secular history the walls were about 38-40 feet high we understand the thickness to be somewhere between 6 and 18 feet at the bottom and tapering to about a little less that 3 feet at the top. There were 35-40 towers and 8 gates and at these points the wall was considerably thicker. It is hard to determine actual thickness since much of the wall was destroyed and most secular reporting occurred during the Roman siege and the walls by then had been reinforced. Additionally siege walls were built against the actual walls which hid the actual thickness. The wailing wall or western wall as it is now called is not a wall of the city of Jerusalem but rather a wall that helped form and hold up the temple mound. This wall is now bulging and on the verge of collapse along with the whole temple mound since the Palestines have been doing unauthorized excavating on the temple mound, in an attempt to rid the mound of any Jewish temple artifacts.
