Retxar, There are so many passages to describe the gift of tongues. There are many who believe that the gift of tongue stopped with the New Testament disciples. Mk 16:17 says" and these signs will follow those who believe: In my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; you can go to 1Cor12 and 14, the apostle Paul talks about tongues. God gives the necessary power( at the appropriate time) to his obedient servants. And he will not allow anything to hinder his plans and purposes in the lives of his people. I believe that we have a God who will use what ever means to reach the lost. Speaking in tongue, sometimes is speaking in a language that the speaker does not know not the jibberage that so many speak of. Alot of people will disagree with this , but God is God and I am not.

You've certainly given me some things to think about -- and some scripture to consider. Thank you. You make a lot of sense. I guess I've seen so many false prophets and so many pretenders and self deluded that I forgot how to trust. Yes, God is God. He can still manifest these things. I'll study this with a more open mind from now on. --Biynah |

Biynah, This is wonderful to here people say they will keep an open mind, but like the BIBLE says, to test the spirits and ALWAYS refer to GODS word for all that you see.Remember the gift of tongue is to be exercised with restraint and in an orderly way. The regulations for its public use are simple and straightforward. The person who speaks in unknown tongue is to pray that he may interpret 1 Cor 14:13, or someone else is to interpret what he says. ONLY two or three persons are to speak, with each having an interpretion. Each in turn. If this criteria is not met, they are to remain silent. If these guidelines are not observed, unbelievers who are present will conclude that the people of the church are out of their minds. Paul claims the gift of tongues but only in private and not in public 1Cor 14:18-19

Burning Bush: I agree that the principles you have outlined should be met. As always I will exercise them. But you've scripturally given me a reason to give a case by case evaluation to the experience of speaking in tongues rather than to pre judge all such experiences as fraudulent as I formerly have. Thanks again for your insight. --Biynah |
