No, women are not allowed to take a leadership role in the church. 1 Timothy 2 12And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. And since you used the term pastor, you need to know that this term for a position in the church is interchangable with the terms overseer, bishop and elder. 1 Timothy 3 Qualifications of Overseers Qualifications of Church Officers 1 This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop,[1] he desires a good work. The reason for going off on the tangent is a pastor or elder is position to be held by men in every church and there should be more than one. Acts 14 23 "So when they had appointed elders in every church," Some think that the preacher is the pastor/overseer/elder and stands alone over the deacons of the church but this is not so. Just as there are more than one deacon in a church there should be more than one elder. And usually but not always (sometimes one of the elders fill this position as well) the person behind the pullpit is just the preacher and has no authority at all over the congregation this is the responsibility of the elders. In conclusion since we now have covered the definition of the office of elder and we can see by the above scripture that women are not to have authority over a men, now lets lets look at who can hold the position of elder/bishop. 1 Timothy 3 2A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; 3not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money,[1] but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; 4one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence The above verse says that a bishop must be the HUSBAND of one wife along with other qualifications. So by these scriptures you can see that women are not to hold the position of pastor or any other leadership role in the church where men are present. Raven |

Lets read this verse in context with the scripture around it. Sons and Heirs 26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. It is clear when we read this that it is telling us that since Christ came and died for the sins of all that those who follow Christ and have been obedient to His word have a right to the cleansing power of His blood. Further more this scripture fits perfectly with the following, Acts 10 34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said: "In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality Romans 2 11For there is no partiality with God. Galatians 2 6But from those who seemed to be something--whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God shows personal favoritism to no man--for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me. In other words it doesn't matter if you are black, white, yellow, red, French, German, American, African, what ever or who ever you are, all are able to be saved if they are willing to obey the word of God. One of the best ways to give an example of this is with the Jewish nation. They thought that because they were Jews and desendants of Abraham that made them special in Gods eye. They were more concerned about "who" they were, than "what" God wanted them to be. John 8 32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." 33They answered Him, "We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, "You will be made free'?" I hope I have answered you question. And please I would perfer that you did not look at the answer that I give you as insight. I merly took what the bible has said and give it to you. Raven |
