Hello, I'm sure this'll be an easy one for you Bible Buff's out there but I have a hard time with dating and translating that dating from Hebrew to Gregorian. But in particular reference to Joshua 5:10, what would that date translate to? Thanks for your input, I'm looking forward to being impressed by you people. 2 | Joshua 5:10, what date is that? | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 35911
No Compromise You ask a difficult question since the Bible doesn't give exact historical dates. Plus the fact that the Jewish calendar uses 360 day instead of 365 and the various other changes to the calendar the task of placing dates becomes daunting. However most scholars place the date of the Exodus as 1446 BC, since we know the children of Israel wandered in the desert for 40 years the date of Joshua 5:10 would be approximately 1406 BC. I hope this is what your looking for EdB |

3 | Joshua 5:10, what date is that? | Bible general Archive 1 | No_Compromise | 35916
yes thanks, what I was trying to figure out was it in the year 1406BC because if so then most of the stuff in Chapters 1-5 took place in less than a years time. I've got a date from Josh 4:19 and was trying to reconcile it with the verse in 5:10. I think it is the same year and the camp at Gilgal was in fact during the year 1406 BC. but i realize that the differnces in calanders really makes this assertion tough. Thanks for trying to help.

Scripture ... Exo 12:3, 5-10; Jos 4:19, 5:10 ... No_Compromise, Joshua 4:19 is the tenth day of the first month (Abib). It is the day of selecting the lamb (Exo 12:3) ... four days later (Jos 5:10), they celebrated the Passover (Exo 12:5-10). It was the same year. There are two dates of conquest that I posted to EdB. Hope this helps, Searcher |
