Greetings 96earwakerm! The question you have asked is classically known as the problem of evil. We could go into quite a bit of detail on this question, but the basic answer is simple. Man caused his own problems. What is mean is simply this. God did not create a world where death was to be a part of our experience. There was no sickness, no accidental deaths, no disease, no suffering, or any other such thing, until man sinned. At that point, all of creation was corrupted (See the curses of Gen. 3). Scripture tells us that there will come a day, in a new heaven and a new earth, where creation is once again restored the condition God intended (Rev. 21:1-4). However, until that time, we live in a fallen world and we must deal with the imperfections and evil that exist within it (Rom. 8:18-25). Scripture also makes it clear that at times God does intervene in natural events, but usually just allows them to run their natural course, which is why they are called 'natural'. :-) I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
