Greetings friendly stranger! The main defference between the Islam faith and Christian beliefs is that the Muslem does not beleve that Christ is the Messiah. The Koran lists 22 prophets of Allah. These include Adam, Noah, Moses, David, and Jesus. There are 5 doctrines of Islam that Moslems are required to believe. One is mentioned above. The other 4 are that there is only one true God and his name is Allah. 2) The chief angel is Gabriel who appeared to Mohammed in a dream in which Allah had called to him to be a prophet. 3)Moslems believe in 4 God-inspired books. The torah of Moses (what we call the Pentateuch), the Zabur (the Psalms of David), the Injil (Gospel) and the Koran. But the Koran is Allahs final word to mankind and supercedes and overrules all previous writings. And last they must believe on the last day that all the dead will be resurrected and Allah will judge whether each person should be sent to heaven (a place of sensual pleasure) or hell where those who oppose Allah will be. The Koran contradicts the bible in numerous ways. One is that the Koran denies that Jesus is the son of God. He is considered to be a prophet and ranked far below that of Mohammed. It also says that Christ never really died on the cross. According to Islam, Allah took Jesus to heaven before the crucifixion and that it was really Judas, made up to look like Jesus that was crucifified. The Surah 4:111 declares that man must take care of his own sins. The muslim must earn salvation from sin (failure to do Allah's will) by following the 5 Pillars of Faith statement of belief, prayers, Alms, Observance of Ramadan, and at one pilgrimage to Mecca (the holy city). Hope this helps. prayon

It is a horrible idea for Christian churches to give an audience to Muslim speakers, for the same reason it would be to give a Satanic priest an audience. Islam is a false religion that denies every single tenet of the Christian faith that leads a person to salvation. The pulpit is for the proclamation of truth, not the propagation of damnable lies. There are plenty of people who are Christians who know Islam in and out and would be perfect people to educate the congregation on Islam's tenets vs. Biblical truth. There are also many former Muslims (now Christians) who could fill that place much more effectively than any false teacher. --Joe! |

As always, you make many good points, Joe. Recently, a local mayor held an interfaith breakfast for the sake of peace. Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus and whomever else were welcomed to speak. Dialog is essential for world peace. I can't speak for others, but my faith is not inviting preaching. They're inviting understanding. After the events of 9/11 Muslim Americans immediately began to be persecuted. Some even killed. Children harrassed and beaten up by classmantes in schools. It has to stop. If people are confused they should be asking for clarification. Each of your points is proof positive that deeper dialog is needed within each church so that people will fully understand the intention. Lisa |

Lisa, I quite agree that Christians are commanded to live as peaceably as possible with all people on earth. Persecution of non-Christians by Christians is sinful and unconscionable. But we are not to buy into the "politically correct" idea that one religion is as good as another. A professing Christian who believes that salvation comes by any other means than Christ's shed blood on the cross is not, by definition, a Christian at all. --Hank

Hello friend Hank! How are you doing? Again, I can't speak for all cities, but - I haven't heard anyone say this. I've only heard folks explaining how far out of line the Taliban is. Hugs, Lisa |
