1 | How can Christ return be imminent? | Bible general Archive 1 | bannal | 14615 | ||
The Bible says in Matthew 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. * We don't know when he will return and anyone who says they do will have to take it up with God himself. What we do know is that we should be living and acting as if he were coming this very day. As far as your quetion goes, about Christ's return being imminent, and where to find it... There have been many people who have died waiting for the blessed return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The imminence we should feel is on our part! You should live like you will be seeing him in the clouds any moment. Do I believe the prophecies are fulfilled for Jesus' return? YES. If not, I feel they could be completed in very little time...one proclamation from the government could send us all scurrying into the hills! Jesus is Coming! That is all that matters. |

I agree in part, but it only says "DAY and HOUR", or are you reading more into it then that? It seem to me that there was mention of a season some place, and that we would know when certain things start to happen, only then will the time be near. One sign being that the Jews would be back in there land occupying the Holy city. Now if that is the case, that means that Christ couldn't have returned untill after 1967. I.E. So much for imminency! |

I guess what I need to hear from you is the reason for all the questions. I agree it says Day and Hour. As far as the 1967 Jewish declaration of a nation goes, that could have been accomplished at any time God wanted this to happen. We cannot limit God, period. I am wondering why you are having such trouble with the "imminent" thing. The word "Imminent" is not found in my Bible, KJV, that is a term we, as man or woman, have used. The reason I can say that his return is imminent is because I feel everything has been fulfilled for his coming. He promised to come back...that's good enough for me. There is a verse in the Bible, and I can't think of it off-hand, that says something to the effect of "Don't worry about trivial things". By "Trivial" I do not mean his second coming is not important. What I am trying to say is worrying about whether this person says, imminent, or that person says, procrastinate, the deal is that He said He would come back. Mark 13:32 and 33 says; 32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. 33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. I think we should be paying close attention to the 33rd verse. "Take ye Heed" means; "You better pay attention to this". "Watch and Pray" means; Just what I said in an earlier post, we need to be ready, watching, praying, hoping, working toward his coming. And lastly, "for ye know not when the time is". There is your imminence! You cannot actually tell me when he is coming. You cannot actually tell me if all the prophesies are fulfilled. No man knoweth the day He will come nor the hour he will come. So, it will pay to be ready. "for ye know not when the time is", we just don't know. I think about when I was a child and my mother would put me to bed. I would get up and turn on the light. I knew she was coming, I just didn't know when. So, every noise I heard made it imminent that I cut that light off! Likewise, we do not know when Jesus will return, but it could be today. If that isn't imminent enough for you I don't know what is. God Bless I hope this helps, Devan |
