1 | jcsav, are there candlesticks today? | Rev 2:1 | Searcher56 | 146938
jcsav, in post 146934, you said ............... "And if he said, that he would remove one of these (if they did not repent) (Rev 2:5) Then there is no reason why we should think, that every group and denomination that say they know him, have a candlestick before him." As I look at the context (Rev 2-3), I see there are only seven golden candlesticks (lampstands) - the seven churches , and this verse says there are "seven golden lampstands" ... so where is your support there are others? Searcher PS Please note I started a new thread, since we are talking about a new subject-verse |

2 | jcsav, are there candlesticks today? | Rev 2:1 | jcsav | 146963
Searcher, read Rev.1:19,"Write therefore the things you see, what they are (and signify) and what is to take place hereafter." Notice the words "are" and "hereafter". This is not only speaking of past (what they are) but also future (hereafter). This do not mean that there are any additional golden candlesticks. But that the seven churches represented. Contain the same Spirit(s) of error that exist in the True Churches of today. The message is the same today as then. Also take notice in verse 22. "He that is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the (Holy) Spirit says to the assemblies (churches). Thanks, for the change of thread. We needed it. jcsav |

3 | jcsav, are there candlesticks today? | Rev 2:1 | Searcher56 | 146989
jcsav, Revelation 1-3 is the now and the rest of the book is the hereafter. I agree with (most of) the experts on this. There are some who say each of the churches were the condition of the church through history, and we are in the Laodicean age. Others say there are seven types of churches, based on each of the churches. I would lean toward the latter. Today I see social churches. They thrive becuase the ears are tickled. I don't even know if He is there. However, which of these chuches exist today? Ephesus is long gone. Searcher |

4 | jcsav, are there candlesticks today? | Rev 2:1 | jcsav | 147051
Searcher, you view is known as the futurist view interpertation. I am of the Idealist interpretation which views timeless truths. If you have a Amplified Bible read the introduction the Revelation. If you go into any of the Apostolic Pentecostal Churchs. If you have the Holy Ghost and can discern Spirits. You will find that they will fix with one or more of the Seven Churches that is listed in Revelation. The Church of Ephesus may be long gone. But the things that the Lord had against these Churches still exist. I know it is hard for you to understand, if you still think all believers are saved, It is impossible for you see. |
