Revelation 21:8 (KJV): "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." Janae |

Thank you Janae, But that is a little harsh to try and teach an 11 year old that lying is wrong. I am the step mother and it is an everyday occurrance. And it just has to stop somehow. If his lips are moving he is lying. We go to church faithfully. I just need to find a way to show him in not such a harsh fire and brimstone way. Any suggestions? Tonya |

Dear Tonya, I am the mother of 5 and the grandmother of 7. For me, the truth has always been the best and only way. The Word of God is the Truth. What I have already given you is my best answer. I do not believe we should sugar-coat the Word of God. The Word of God says that liars will be in the lake of fire along with murderers, sorcerers and idolaters. There is another verse I will give you which may help you to see that the truth will do the most good. It is Jude 1:23: "And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh." Hope this helps. Janae |

Thank you so much Janae, that really helps a lot. And you are right. There is no sugar coating lying. It is wrong and the sooner that one realizes it. Although we all know that is wrong. As we learn it from a young age. I have printed your letter out. And had him read it. Have a safe and wonderful weekend. God bless you. Tonya |

Dear Tonya, God is so good! Wouldn't you know He would help us in this question. Yesterday, I took my little granddaughter, Mollie, to church with me. I stayed with her during Sunday School and Children's Church. The Children's Church lesson was about lying! Anyway, here is what they learned. The Bible verse was Proverbs 19:5: "A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape." And they had the story of Ananias and Sapphira to illustrate what happens to liars. What I learned yesterday in Children's Church, only reinforces what I have already given you previously. Hope this helps even more. (You might want to read this to him in another version, which would be easier for him to understand.) Acts 5:1-11: But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, 2And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet. 3But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? 4Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. 5And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. 6And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him. 7And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. 8And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. 9Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out. 10Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. 11And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.
