Hi, John wrote to seven churches in the Roman province of Asia which is actually in Turkey on our present-day map. The churches are named in the subsequent chapters, Pergamum, Smyrna, Ephesus, Thyatria, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. As a side-note the number 7 is a symbol of completeness, perfection and fulfillment. Seven is also associated with Christ in the book of Revelation. |
