i'm searching for the chapter and verse regarding the story of the army that is outside of the town, in which that hole in the wall is wide enough for the army to pass through, but small enough for one person to stand in the gap and keep the army from entering. i am drawing a blank on any other details. Well, I can't think of any passage that matches this scenario. This sounds like an anecdotal story. As far as looking up the words, themselves . . . . Ezekiel 22:30 says, "I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one. John Wesley comments that God was looking for someone, be they prophets, priests or just ordinary people, to intercede, before an offended God, for the nation of Israel and to beg for mercy. But all were corrupt. Could this be what you were thinking of? |
