1 | The anointing of the Lord. | 1 John 2:27 | Howie | 97383
What is to be understood from this text, in particular "and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things"? How do you compare this verse with Matt 28:20 and 2Timothy 2:2? Secondly, does "the anointing" has some special blessing? I hear the term used quite often in certain christian circles, and my view is that at the moment of accepting Christ in our hearts we are established, anointed(blessed in, and by the Holy Spirit) and sealed according to 2 Cor. 1:21-22 |

2 | The anointing of the Lord. | 1 John 2:27 | DAIRYLEADER5 | 97400
The scriptures that you listed are in agreement with each other. when he says that I have no need for any man to teach me, Hes talking about any man made doctrine, and to find faithfull men to carry the truth that you trust. The Holy Ghost will tell you if you are willing to listen what is being taught to you is the truth or not. There are special annointings for specific task. Look at the gifts of the spirit, and the five fold ministries of eph. 4. We all at being saved became partakers of the Holy Ghost, but remember Paul saying, Let us grow up in Him in all things, also about some on the Milk and others on the meat. I hope this helps. 3 | Anointing?? | 1 John 2:27 | Lissamz | 147021
Hello Saints, I already read the previous postings on this verse and still have a question that was debatable in the context the remarks were made. Simply put, I know that all believers are anointed by God (2 Cor. 1:21), that abides in us (the Holy Spirit), but is there also another such anointing in the case of "spiritual gifts." Such as, a brother being 'anointed' with the gift of discernment or a sister being 'anointed' with the gift of prophecy? Thanks Saints, Lissa |

4 | Anointing?? | 1 John 2:27 | BradK | 147025
Hi Lissa, Your question is a good one. 2 Cor. 1:21 is very much to the point about anointing. The action has already taken place. Though there is much in the WOF teaching- specifically- that bandies about being "anointed" for this or that, I see very little scriptural support. I can't think of any verse that tells us someone is anointed with any particular gift or that we're anointed more than once. Even in the OT, the priest was only anointed once! ( Ex. 28:41, Lev. 7:36) We see kings and priests being "anointed" for specific tasks ( 2 Ki. 9:12, 1 Chron. 11:3), and we see ceremonial anointings in the NT in Luke 7:46 and John 11:2. It may be that there is an issue of semantics involved, but I believe the term is overused and misused many times. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

I really like to see this type of kindness and consideration for each other. Some times when a question is answered it seems like the person answering the question has to beat up on the person asking the question in a kind way with JESUS love. An example of this would be you type in a question and the person who answers it points out your wrong use of quotation marks are spelling. Then they give their answer to the question. In that manner I really don't want their answer. Is this just my experience or do some of you feel this way also. If I have offended anyone please except my apology.
7 | Anointing?? | 1 John 2:27 | Lissamz | 147055
Hello cast net, I know your concerns, I've had them before too with the board, but I made a conscience choice to obey Jesus. He told us to "love one another" (John 13:34; 15:17; 1 John 3:23; 2 John 5) and what the Lord Jesus Christ said He meant. So, I love my brothers and sisters in Christ and there are a lot of people on this site that truly, honestly follow that command, including BradK, who answered my question on this topic. Praise the Lord that His people are able to believe and apply by faith "O righteous Father, although the world has not known You, yet I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me; and I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them." (John 17:25-26) May we all be filled to overflowing with His great love. hidden in Christ, Lissa |
