1 | forgiveness confirmed? | 1 John 1:1 | GJH | 61120
Back on 9/12 I posted my first question. I asked if I had possibly lost my chance at salvation, through committing an unpardonable sin. The encouragement received through the responses was wonderful. It had ended a three year struggle. Now, only a few days later, my joy has been replaced by a fear that I seem incapable to fight. The question is, am I supposed to experience something definative to confirm that my relationship with the Lord has been restored? It seems to me that there should be. Any comments would be appreciated, it's been a long day.
2 | forgiveness confirmed? | 1 John 1:1 | prayon | 61172
Greetings GJH, Suppose you owned a business and you had an employee that had just told you that he was going to quit. Now this employee was your best employee. He worked long hours without high wages. He did overtime to get the job done and never charged you a cent. He was one of those employees who went above and beyond the call of duty. What would you do to get this employee to stay? Would you tell him just about anything to stay? Well when you were not walking with God you were walking with Satan. He does not want to loose you back to Jesus. He will do and say anything to get you to doubt your faith in God. He is truly a deceiver. He will deceive you in all ways. You do not have to and probably won't experience anything "definative" to confirm your relationship. The bible tells you that your relationship has been restored! You are forgiven and your slate has been wiped clean! You must believe and know in your heart that God has forgiven you and the angels in heaven are rejoicing your return. Never doubt God. God is not a God of fear. Fear belongs to Satan. Do not allow Satan to get a foothold in your life by getting you to question God. Claim your Joy!!! prayon |

3 | forgiveness confirmed? | 1 John 1:1 | GJH | 61292
Prayon, I would like to thank you for your kind response to my question. The analogy of the employer is a good one. I can appreciate God's desire that we trust Him. But the real confusing part to me is, since my former employer is trying so hard to keep me, and my concern is so real to me, why doesn't the Lord try to reassure me of security in my new position with His company? Like I've commented to another who's been trying to encourage me, if my son was afraid that I didn't love him, I'd certainly reassure him that I did. Maybe this isn't real faith, I'm trying to figure it out.

GJH, God knew a long time ago that you would be going through this discouragement. That's why you have His word. He tells you over and over throughout the bible that He loves you. Jesus gave His life for you. What greater sign of His love could He give you? Read His words to you. Personalize them. - For God so loved ME that He gave his only son that when I believe in Him I will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) Fear not: For He has redeemed ME, He has called ME by name; I are His. When I pass through the waters, He will be with ME; and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm ME; when I walk through fire I shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume ME. For He is the Lord MY God. (Isa 43:1-2) ...for He has said, He will never leave ME nor forsake ME...The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me. (Heb 13:5) I am confident of this: that the one who began a good work in Me will bring it to completion! (Phil 1:6) Therefore if I be in Christ I am new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new (2Cor 5:17) He will keep ME in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him (Isa 26:3) I trust the Lord with all MY heart and will not lean not to MY own understanding. In all MY ways I will acknowledge Him and He shall direct MY paths. (Prov 3:5-6) I cast MY burden on the Lord and He will sustain ME; He will never permit the righteous to be moved. (Psa 55:22) Neither death nor life nor angels, nor pricipalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, not any other creaature, shall be able to separate ME from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom 8:38,39) The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Psa 27:1) All the reassurance you need is in the book that He wrote for YOU! prayon |
