Note: 2 Peter 3:8 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. KJV Why do you believe God has told us that 1 day to Him is 1000 years to us? Bless you, Love Fountain |

Understand that the context is talking about mockers that come and speak against the coming of the redeemer to judge the world for ungodliness. These mockers were in Enochs, day and he contended with them also. The same devils motivated the men that came against Enoch and that mocked the promise that Enoch prophesied. That the Lord would come with 10,000 of his saints to execute judgement upon all....(see Jude.) Then also others mocked after the flood, being ignorant that the Flood was "a coming" for those mockers on the other side of the flood. Then Peter states that don't be ignorant of the fact that God is not slow concerning His Promise of the Coming of the Lord, both in salvation for us and in Judgement for the mockers.. Because with the Lord a day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years is as a day to Him.. Meaning in my opinion and within this context that "in the light of eternity where God dwells He is not being slow." Or .."so what if it has been 2000 years , what is that to God. It is still a short time. I do not think that God was trying to introduce a new mathematical formula. This is not the meaning of the phrase to me, to somehow present a new way of calculating time. That is not what He was saying. He is quoting an old testament verse and when you read that Old Testament verse no one ever says that God is meaning to calculate one day for a thousand years for prophetic time tables... Psalm 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. Now after you see that Peter is quoting Psalms 90:4 do you see how the spirit of the message is that even though it may seem like a lot of time has past since the prophesy of the Coming of the Lord in the Old Testament was Given, and this is the same promise renewed in the New Testament... that even so it is only a short time in God's view and soon to be Our view when are there with Him. Praise God. Live ready for the Coming of the Lord draweth nigh! |

Dear Scribe, 2 Peter 3:7-10 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. KJV Within context from my perspective, the above verses are clearly pointing to the day of judgement and judgement is layed out as an appointed time at which God is longsuffering towards from the beginning to the end, wanting all to come to repentance. Regarding Psalm 90:4, a thousand years in thy(mans) sight are but as yesterday sure sounds like 1 day is a thousand years to me, because yesterday was only a day away and yet it was a thousand years. I am noone and a sinner on top of that maybe this is why I see differently? I do not see this as a new way of calculating time, I see the Holy Spirit giving a witness to another understanding of 1000 years to man is 1 day with God and confirming the appointed time of this earth age, from Adam's birth to the end of the millenium as I have stated to CDBJ. Bless you, Love Fountain 2 Peter 3:13-18 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. KJV |

The problem is that it could be 20 thousand more years till Christ comes, no one knows! I hope not, but it could be, then your calculation is shot down. We have enough Scripture that is plain to understand about Christ return with out trying to second-guess or change a primary interpretation to try and mean something it doesn't. There have been numbers of people that have tried to calculate when Christ would return and they fund themselves huddled together on the top of some mountain the day after their great prediction half frozen and dumbfounded with white sheets on. So much for their witness for the Lord after a dumb stunt like that; they have just been neutralized by the adversary. Now no one with half a brain would ever listen to their message about salvation in Christ even though that message is true and without flaws. I am not saying this to be critical or that that might be your intent, I am just saying be careful or you might be opening up a can of worms for yourself. In love CDBJ |

Good point CDBJ, but what about the idea of being in the Last Days. If as Peter stated in Acts 2 we are in the Last Days since the day of Pentecost at least, becuase he said this is that spoken of by the prophet Joel, 'that in the last days I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh' then we have to be getting to the very end of the end days. This is why. If you draw a time line of earth history and place the day of Pentecost on the time line you have some 4500 years before it and some 2000 years after it. Now if Jesus comes again soon and wraps things up you can see how the day of Pentecost began the last third of man's history thus calling it the last days applies. But if you go too much further in the future say another 1000 years added to the one we are in, you see that the day of Pentecost was in the middle of the time line and thus it would be more like the middle days of man's history on the day of Pentecost when peter called it the Last Days. Now we could get all mentally indifferent to logic and just say, something like "who cares" but I think God's word is written with logic and understanding and that if Peter said that that was the Last Days and we are still in it, it HAS to end soon. God bless you. | ||||||

Suppose you see 2 Thes. 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) It seems to me that these sings are a lot more conclusive. Matthew 24:27-34 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. 29Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. 32Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. I think I'll bank on what the Lord made clear, not something that might be assumed. Thanks anyway, CDBJ |
