1 | 1 day is 1000 years, why? | 2 Pet 3:8 | Love Fountain | 39514
Dear Scribe, 2 Peter 3:7-10 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. KJV Within context from my perspective, the above verses are clearly pointing to the day of judgement and judgement is layed out as an appointed time at which God is longsuffering towards from the beginning to the end, wanting all to come to repentance. Regarding Psalm 90:4, a thousand years in thy(mans) sight are but as yesterday sure sounds like 1 day is a thousand years to me, because yesterday was only a day away and yet it was a thousand years. I am noone and a sinner on top of that maybe this is why I see differently? I do not see this as a new way of calculating time, I see the Holy Spirit giving a witness to another understanding of 1000 years to man is 1 day with God and confirming the appointed time of this earth age, from Adam's birth to the end of the millenium as I have stated to CDBJ. Bless you, Love Fountain 2 Peter 3:13-18 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. KJV |

Dear Love Fountain, You stated "Regarding Psalm 90:4, a thousand years in thy(mans) sight are but as yesterday sure sounds like 1 day is a thousand years to me" The statement by David is to God when he says "a thousand years in thy sight" he is referring to God. In God's sight or from God's Almighty and eternal view, a thousand years is as a day. No "less than that" It is like a "watch in the night" that is a three hour period. So now which is the 'formula' is it a day or a watch in the night? See the point of David is that of Isaiah and repeated by Peter.. All flesh is grass and as the grass withers and passes away so is man and all his history and man accomplishments. The point of David in Psalms 90 is the frailty of man.. that indeed as you stated, we 'are no one'.. " we spend our years as a tale [that is told " ps 90:9. So when Peter uses this text he is reminding those that were well read "remember how little this passage of time really matters to God" and do not say "all things continue as they have since the beginning". I have heard the 7 day theory and frankly I like it. But I do not see that this verse supports it the way it is often used. It may help to allow us to speculate about the 7 day prophetic time table, but we should do so with the attitude of "it could be" not "it is written" May God Bless you in your study.
