Scripture ... 2 Pet 1:12-21 ... God's day to you mightymouse, I preume you are wanting to know about chapter 1. As my learned brother and friend ,Tim said in post 140282, The Greek of 1 Peter 1:20 literally says, "knowing this first that each prophecy of Scripture of one's own interpretation did not come into being." So, this verse is not speaking of an individual's ability to interpret Scripture, but of the source of Scripture itself. ... and if you read the context, some were making up stories and their source was not God. In 2 Peter 2:20-22 Peter is speaking of a person who has learned about Christ and how to be saved, and has even been positively influenced by Christians, but then rejects the truth and returns to his sin. He is worse off than before, because he has rejected the only way out of sin, the only way of salvation. Like a man sinking in quicksand who refuses to grab the rope thrown to him, the person who turns away from Christ casts aside his only means of escape. | ||||||
