christian7, more thoughts on the verse from Peter, whose name comes from 'petra' and means stone, Peter refers to Christ as the 'Living stone'(1Pe 2:4) and we, vs.5, are like living stones. God sent His Son as the cornerstone in the spiritual temple that is being built to this day. Jesus is the foundation, support and underpinning of the church, and is the most critical piece of the structure. This cornerstone posseses invincible strength and everlasting duration and we are able to rely on Him for protection and security. We are also capable of using this stone as a weapon against the enemy. My point here is, instead of trying to establish who the spirits were that Jesus went to preach to, we should be compelled towards discovering the message that was preached to these souls. This message likely had much to do with how we are inclined to follow the majority, yet we are commanded otherwise. Just think of the 8 that were saved in the ark, who received everlasting life, and the 8 million who perished and received eternal damnation. Thank you for your time in sharing these thoughts, may God Bless all of you and all of yours. |
