Hi, Scarlette... An apology in theological and philosophical terms is not an "I am sorry." :-) It is a carefully reasoned explanation. I believe the dictionary uses the definition "A formal explanation or defense." Sorry for being unclear. In a very real sense, the four gospels are evangelistic and apologetic in nature.
