1 | Other nations asked to be "Chosen" 1st? | Deut 33:2 | TwoHAWK | 9700
Nolan, thank you for your kind expression of welcome to the Forum and your thorough response to my question. The question I asked derives from the Jewish Talmud via the first-century leader of Palestinian Jewry, Rabbi Yochanan. Since reading your response, I have revisited pertinent parts of Gen., Exod., and Deut. From God's initial agreement with Abraham (Gen. 12:1-3) to Moses' last address to the Children of Israel in which the covenant is confirmed (Deut. 29:9ff), I turned up no mention of a people other than Israel being approached by God, and I find myself rather persuaded by your view. While I don't feel drawn to pursue this issue further, perhaps the Kabbalah might shed some light... At any rate, thank you again. Aho, TwoHAWK |

2 | Other nations asked to be "Chosen" 1st? | Deut 33:2 | Makarios | 9732
You are very welcome, TwoHAWK! Yes, the Kabbalah might be worth looking into, but God's Word stands solid here- saying that God chose Israel as His people, and He did not choose or 'start with' any other nation other than Israel. I could find more Scriptures on this if you like! :) Other things to consider- Isaiah 55:11 says that God's word will not return empty; therefore, if He had begun with another nation, then wouldn't He of 'finished what He began' with that nation, like He did with Israel? If God had called another nation to be His very own, then He would not have 'given up' on that nation very easily!! In fact, God still has not 'given up' on the nation of Israel, even though He has extended His salvation to all peoples as His 'chosen people' (the church). There is still time for all Jews to come to know Him as their Lord and Savior! TwoHAWK, are you a Messianic Jew? Again, Welcome to the Forum, my friend! Blessings! Nolan |
