1 | If God knows all,why create the universe | Deut 29:29 | Lionstrong | 13833
Rom 11:36 For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen. Greetings again Sir Pent, I don't see that God making himself the end of all things as being selfish. I see it as being logical. For what higher or better purpose can anything exist but God? Do you yourself wish to exist for anything less than to please and glorify God? As to the sovereignty and goodness of an almighty God who ordains evil to exist in his universe, I’ll leave it with you to wrestle with God about it. But I know it can be a hard pill to swallow that God has “potter’s rights” over his creation. (Rom 9) But it seems that we have a double standard about God’s “potter’s rights.” We don’t think an author is evil if he writes a story full pain suffering and trails. In fact, we rejoice when the bad guy “gets it” in the end. Why, then, do we charge God with evil for his story (history)? It IS his story; it IS his creation. Has he not the right? Peace, Lionstrong |

2 | God has the right, but why do it? | Deut 29:29 | Sir Pent | 13873
Greetings Lionstrong, Thank you very much for your response to my question. I must admit that I felt a little attacked by the first two responses. For the most part, I completely agree with your perspective. I too think that it is "logical" for God to be the "end of all things", for indeed He is the only true purpose for our existence. I also agree that He has the right as God and Author of everything to do whatever He pleases with the universe. I do have two thoughts though. The first is that the universe is different than a book or movie, in that the characters are real people. I don't think we would enjoy a movie if we knew that the actor who played the bad guy REALLY got killed in the end. The second thought is that although God should be the purpose of our existence and actions, that doesn't really tell us what the purpose of God's actions are. We don't do everything that we have the "right" to do, so why did God choose to act on His right to make the universe as we know it? Or more personally why did He make me? |

3 | God has the right, but why do it? | Deut 29:29 | glory777 | 13876
I may be a little simple, I hope as a child, but there are some things in the Word and in creation I don't understand and I won't be able to understand until I am able to ask the Lord myself. I think Isaiah 55:8-9 pretty well sums it up. Also, God made the universe and all that is in it. He has the right to do anything with it He chooses. We have the right to either choose Him and trust, or not. Other than that, we have no rights. And those who choose to trust have all the rights we need. In His grace Debbie |
