1 | Saying "AMEN"...outloud? | Deut 27:20 | 2007 mouse | 187635
"AMEN" Personally, I love saying "Amen" outloud. To me it means that what has just been said, is the truth and I am agreeing. I have been told by a certain person that by my saying "Amen" outloud in church is wrong because it is distracting and I am using it as an ordinary word with no thought behind it. I did try to explain that it makes me feel good to say it when something that is preached to us, sets me on fire for God and I know it is the truth because it is from the Bible. Make sense? Am I wrong to say "AMEN" aloud or does it mean the "END" of something and NOT the meaning I think it is. Mouse |

2 | Saying "AMEN"...outloud? | Deut 27:20 | Hank | 188271
Hi, Mouse - You've received some good answers, and I'm most disinclined to find any fault with showing assent to a point by voicing an occasional amen to it. I do it myself from time to time. ........ Your story about the disserter brings to mind this one. A country fellow who was accustomed to saying amen in church when he felt like doing so, moved to the city and went to the worship service of a big downtown church. True to his custom, he said a few amens during the service. At the end of the service a couple of deacons approached him. ......... "You're welcome to worship here," they said, "but you're going to have to tone it down. We don't go for this amen stuff at this church." ........ "But, I've got religion," the country fellow told them, to which they responded, "Well, you didn't get it here." --Hank
