kcamb14: Respectfully, I disagree with you. My wife is a subteacher in a public school. She wears a dress when most teachers do not. My wife wears a dress to church on Sundays. The choice is entirely hers. In Missouri in the winter it does get really cold. There is no reason for a woman to wear or a dress in the cold, or for that matter in the summer if she so chooses. In Romans Paul ran into the topic of eating meat or forbidding the eating of meat. Weaker christians were insisting on not allowing meat to be eaten. It boiled down to not offending the weaker christian. The issue of women waring pants is somewhat along that line, in my opinion. Frankly, in the Souther Baptist Church where we are members, we are glad to see people come, in pants or a dress. Women in pants in a church at least know that they are welcome to our church. Perhaps if they don't know Jesus they will accept Him. Maybe even those who just come to worship and hear the Word preached, is just where they belong, pants or dress, the person is far more important than what they wear. The Old Testament laws you are quoting, you are taking out of context. Women wearing pants in no way indicates homosexuality! Justme |

Hi, Justme... I thought you were American Baptist. Perhaps, if you are near by in Missouri, you might drop in to one of the sessions at the pastors conference at my home church: http://www.founders.org/misc/misc/sbfcmw09.html In Him, Doc |

Doc: I was raised in an American Baptist Church. My wife and I have been members of ABC and SBC in the different places where we lived before going to College. I went to Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ (SBC). We spent one year in Kansas City, MO at Midwester Baptist Theological Seminary (SBC). There was fighting and disruption on campus at the time I was there, it was anything but a place for Christian learning. I did have some very special professore, like Dr, Willian Coble. I transfered to Central Baptist Theolpgical Seminary in Kansas City, Kansas (ABC) and my wife and me both received our M.Div and MARS. I pastored Two American Baptist Churches, one Southern Baptist Church, and one Conserative Baptist Church. In Missouri American Baptist Churches are few and far between. So we are Baptist and the church we love and believe is preaching and teaching Gods Word is a Southern Baptist Church. As far as favoring one denomination over a nother, each of the denominational churches I pastored had some strong and weak points. There is no perfect denomination, just as there is no perfect church. We choose to be members of a local body of believers where the Bible is preached, and people are being saved and ministry is taking place, So as members of a SBC church that's what we are. We are comfortable, and active and that is where we believe God wants us to be. I would be pleased to drop in, we will see how it works out. Blessings Doc, and thank you. justme |
