Dear meinzer.....I found nothing that says to "beware of lawyers" but this passage concerns "spiritist" which is akin to a "card reader." DT 18:9 When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. You might look at "scribes" in the NT -- they would be the equivalent to what we call lawyers today. Matthew 23:3 says to do what they say, but not what they do. However, Christ also said "woe unto you" to them 13 times in the Gospels. A prophets would say "blessed" or "woe;" The former was a blessing the latter a curse. The fact that these guys were cursed so frequently would lead me to think that we ought to beware of them! (Please don't construe this as a condemnation of the entire legal profession!) | ||||||
