Nolan, I say yes. But, we do not know how to pray. I think there is great fear when we pray so that our will is in concert with His. It takes great effort and time on our part to do so. Elijah was in concert with God. He spoke the word (1Ki 17:1) and waited for God to tell him when it was going to rain (18:1-2). Plus, we don't have the faith of a mustard seed (Mat 17:20). Steve |

The Cambridge Annotated Study Bible states, "5:17-18 According to 1 Kings 17:1, the prophet Elijah prophesied that it would not rain, but his praying is not mentioned until 1 Kings 17:20-22; later Jewish tradition sees Elijah as a strong example of the one who prays. Cf. Lk 4:25" So prayer is powerful indeed! :) Nolan |
