1 | Does the Bible contradict itself? | James 2:1 | soladescriptura | 401
Does James 2 contradict Romans 4? James 2:24 "You see that a man is justified by works, and not by faith alone." Some say that this contradicts Paul in Romans 3:28: "For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law." |

2 | Does the Bible contradict itself? | James 2:1 | TWPeck1953 | 213730
The first thing we must do is look at what a "work" is? From our perspective, it is doing something "good", what we would define as "good", but what is "works" to God? It is following the Law, trusting in God, obeying Christ. We cannot do this without faith because we would find them all foolish. The point being made is what is in our heart? What is our motivation? What is the purpose of our works and our faith? If it is not to glorify God, then it is pointless and our justification is pointless if it does not point back to God. |
