NASB | James 2:1 My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | James 2:1 My fellow believers, do not practice your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of partiality [toward people--show no favoritism, no prejudice, no snobbery]. |
Bible Question:
Does James 2 contradict Romans 4? James 2:24 "You see that a man is justified by works, and not by faith alone." Some say that this contradicts Paul in Romans 3:28: "For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law." |
Bible Answer: James is trying to keep people from thinking that they have no responsibility in obeying the Lord through passively saying their faith is all that is required. Simply saying that you have faith is not truth if there is no fruit to prove it. Works will not bring faith, but faith is dead without works. |
