1 | Reconcilitation between Paul and James | James 2:14 | Ric | 97
Careful study reveals that there is no disagreement between a Pauline statement like Eph 2:8-10 and the declaration of Jas 2:24. You need to read the passage as a whole (James 2:14-26), it divides itself into three sections: the proposition James 2:16-17; the argument James 2:18-25; and the concluding statement James 2:26. In short, real faith will bring out works proving our salvation, but one can not work for their salvation.
2 | to clarify my question... | James 2:14 | 1Cor13 | 102
Sorry I messed up my question... my main questions are "can a distinction really be drawn on 1, works that substantiate faith and 2, works done with a intention to gain God's justification" and "is it the motive for the acts that counts at the end" Any one could kindly help? Thanks
3 | to clarify my question... | James 2:14 | Ric | 107
For your question: ""can a distinction really be drawn on 1, works that substantiate faith and 2, works done with a intention to gain God's justification" and "is it the motive for the acts that counts at the end". ................. The answer would be that "works establish the proof of one's faith" and for the number 2 "works done with a intention to gain God's justification" will never, never happen...... Is 64:6 For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
