1 | Altar in the Holy of Holies? | Heb 9:4 | srbaegon | 118998
Hello Safe Harbour, If I might add to EdB's comments. On the Day of Atonement, which the Hebrews passage relates to, incense was taken into the Holy of Holies and burned there. Leviticus 16:12-13 (ESV) And he shall take a censer full of coals of fire from the altar before the Lord, and two handfuls of sweet incense beaten small, and he shall bring it inside the veil [13] and put the incense on the fire before the Lord, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is over the testimony, so that he does not die. Adolph Saphir in his book on Hebrews says that the golden altar of Heb 9 is actually the censer of Lev 16. Steve |

2 | Altar in the Holy of Holies? | Heb 9:4 | Ray | 119023
Hi Steve, Thanks for you posting about Adolph Saphir's book and the comparison of Heb 9 and Lev 16. Levitics 16:30, "for it is on this day that atonement shall be made for you to cleanse you; you shall be clean from all your sins before the **Lord." Hebrews 9:20, "saying, "This is the blood of the covenant which **God commanded you." Galatians 3:24, "Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to **Christ, that we may be justified by faith." The stars** are mine of course for comparisons. Hebrew 9:13,14 Leviticus 16:8-12 From the heart, Ray |
