1 | Explain the Old vs. the New Covenant? | Heb 9:19 | Disciple2004 | 104730
Please discuss the Old Covenant, the New Covenant and the transition from one to the other. Specifically I am interested in who the Old Covenant was directed at? What was its purpose? How/could someone fufill the Old Covenant? Why was there a need for a New Covenant? Any scriptural references would be great! Thanks.
2 | Explain the Old vs. the New Covenant? | Heb 9:19 | Searcher56 | 104731
Scripture ... Mat 5:17-20, Heb 8:1-10:18 ... Disciple2004, greetings Study these passages ... without the aid of other helps. I am interested in who the Old Covenant was directed at? ... Israel and Judah What was its purpose? ... It was regulations of divine worship and the earthly sanctuary How/could someone fufill the Old Covenant? ... Jesus Christ didn't come to abolish the Law or the Prophets but to fulfill them Why was there a need for a New Covenant? ... It was not faultless For me I see the only part of the Law that no longer applies is the requirement of blood sacrifices ... tho I am in the minority. The Old Covenant is incomplete without the New ... just as the Denver Bronco fans shout IN-COM-PLETE when the visting QB doesn't connect with the receiver. Both need each other ... the receiver needs the ball thrown by the QB ... as the New needs Christ to complete the connection with the Old. Is the QB then forgotten, no longer needed on the play? I am still working on this illustration ... the books of Hebrews shows the Old is incompelte. Searcher |
