1 | Being of sound mind... | Heb 9:17 | DocTrinsograce | 127800
This story is not an analogy. It is recorded for our edification. It's full import can only be understood in the light of the entire Word of God. David took care of Mephibosheth entirely as a consequence of David's covenant with Jonathan (1 Samuel 18:3). Nothing Mephibosheth could do would earn him a right to anything but death, since in that day and age, anyone who might lay claim to the throne was killed. His only "qualifications" were being of the house of Jonathan. Thus, Mephibosheth's place at David's table was only the result of the covenant. David was faithfully carrying out his obligation to the family of Jonathan.

I must admit, I'm a little confused. You were the one who linked this story of David and Mephibosheth to the original post about the whole process and leaving a will and having it properly executed. Can you enlighten me and explain why you linked these two ideas? It seems to me, my other questions are still valid and need answers. Your response, my friend? Blessings to you. Country Girl |
