1 | Why did God give ten commandments? | Heb 8:13 | Reighnskye | 135469
Tim, You ask: "Where do these passage say anything about enforcing the covenant?" That's just it. These passages say nothing about enforcing the covenant. Yet, the Law of Moses was still in effect to destroy them, insofar as they were judged to be unclean. In fact, these nations who were destroyed were neither members of the house of Israel, nor were they covenant-makers. Nonetheless, the Law of Moses dictated their destruction, even every man, woman and child. They were wholly judged as unholy and profane by the Law of Moses, in the absence of any covenant. Not only are covenant-breakers put to death under the Law of Moses, but also those who do not enter into covenant. I believe that you were the one who brought up the covenant. - Joshua 6 20 So the people shouted, and priests blew the trumpets; and when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight ahead, and they took the city. 21 They utterly destroyed everything in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox and sheep and donkey, with the edge of the sword. 2 | Why did God give ten commandments? | Heb 8:13 | Morant61 | 135474
Greetings Reighnskye! I just responded to your other post, but my point here would be the same. Nothing is this passage says that they were destroyed because of anything relating to the covenant with Israel. Nothing is said about the Law of Moses dictating their destruction.
