To understand you must take the word in the begining of Heb 6:1 "therefore" this tells you to that it is continuing from chapter 5, 5:11-14 to be exact. It tells us that the Hebrews should have been mighty in their walks with Christ, but instead they where still baby Christians. Heb. 6:1 tells us that they where constantly sinning (laying foundation of repentance) and probably backlsiding (advancing steadily toward completeness). The dead works of course could be found in James 2:18,25; 1 Corinthians 13:1-3,13. works are dead useless you are connected to the vine (John 15:4). |
