simplyword: Welcome to the Forum! Please take some time and tell us something about yourself in the Update Users Info. This allows us to answer questions, and know something about yourself. Your answer with scripture is good. I wonder if you are aware that "putting away" is different from divorce? Putting away was sending a wife away with out a certificate of divorce. Anyone marring such a woman would be commiting adulery, as she was still another mans wife legally. The meant the old husband could come get her, and take her away at anytime. This is what happened and why Moses permitted divorce with a certificate freeing the woman. That is why in Malachi 2:16 "I hate putting away....." Some versons sending away or even divorce. In the Hebrew it refers clearly to sending away or putting away. There is a sharp clear difference from divorce, and putting or sending away without a certificate of divorce. All divorces begin with hardness of heart. Now that I think about it most sin starts with a hardness in our heart toward God. Many Christians have carried unbeliveable second class Christian status in the churches that do not seem to recognize the difference. Divorce is painful and carries with it enough guilt, grief and failure and shame, without us adding more wreight to those who carry this heavy burden as is. Who am I to judge someone elses past when my own had sin; or what need of Jesus would I have had? I once heard someone say "Christians are the ones who shoot their wounded" Oh may this never be said, I pray, out of my mouth, that I added more pain to a wounded Brother or Sister in Christ. However, I shamefully admit I am sure I have. justme |
