Dear Momma, The phrase "outside the camp" refers to Calvary. This is a reference to Leviticus 16:27. You can see this up in the "Amplified" text. "Bearing His reproach" is referring to the reproach that believers experience for the sake of Christ. The Hebrew believers in Jerusalem experienced severe persecution. In Him, Doc |

Hi Doc - thanks, I understand this as being calvary and it is outside the camp - so what is the "camp" referring to? I'm wondering if we in America really have an understanding of what believers in other parts of the world experience in "bearing the reproach?" Perhaps sometimes persecution is found more often in the pew than out of it. Blessings, mommapbs |

5 | His reproach - our reproach? | Heb 13:13 | Mommapbs | 156281
Greetings, Doc: I believe we miss much when we don't consider how God's Word applies to us today. Therefore, when I come across a verse like this I ask, does this have any significance to us as believers; what does this mean for me? Sorry to press the issue with you. FWIW, imo, since we are to also go outside the camp to where Jesus is, might this suggest that we must leave our temorary "comfort zones" or self-made things that we have relied upon in the past? Apart from the priests carrying the blood, the Israelites could never enter the Tabernacle, they could not enter into a relationship with God . . . neither can we unless we go through the blood of Christ. But to get the blood of Christ, we must also leave the camp, that place where self reigns. Blessings, mommapbs |

6 | His reproach - our reproach? | Heb 13:13 | kalos | 156282
'The bodies of animals offered on the Day of Atonement were not eaten but burned "outside the camp". Jesus, who was the ultimate atoning sacrifice, was similarly crucified outside the gates of Jerusalem. Figuratively, believers must join Him outside the camp of the world, no longer being a part of its unholy systems and practices (compare 2 Tim 2:4).' (MacArthur Study Bible) Grace to you, Kalos |
