Hi geostephone me again, Faith as expressed in Heb. 11:1 is as follows, Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. What that is saying in effect is, “substantiating evidence” in the frame of reference of one’s soul. i.e. positive or real proof to believers through the communication of the Holy Spirit. Example” Trying to explain “biblical information”, to one who hasn’t been born of the spirit, is like trying to convince a blind person, from birth, what the color red looks like. 1 Cor. 2:14 (GW) A person who isn't spiritual doesn't accept the teachings of God's Spirit. He thinks they're nonsense. He can't understand them because a person must be spiritual to evaluate them. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." The word “see” in that verse is translated from the Koine Greek word “EIDO” and it carries the connotation of, perception or understanding. The word “faith” in Heb. 11:1 is the Greek word PISTIS and is translated believe in Johns gospel. It means to rely on, trust in, and have absolute confidence in. Proverbs 3:5 (KJV) Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. Ephes. 6:10 (KJV) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
