1 | The Blood, The Body | Heb 10:20 | formereverything | 121134
Can this be interpreted as a reference to communion or eucharist? What I get from these verses is this: We enter the presence of God BECAUSE of the BLOOD. And We enter THROUGH the BODY. The KJV translation: 19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; New Century Version 19 So, brothers and sisters, we are completely free to enter the Most Holy Place without fear because of the blood of Jesus' death. 20 We can enter through a new and living way that Jesus opened for us. It leads through the curtain -- Christ's body. The Message: 19 So, friends, we can now - without hesitation - walk right up to God, into "the Holy Place." Jesus has cleared the way by the blood of his sacrifice, acting as our priest before God. The "curtain" into God's presence is his body. 20 |

2 | The Blood, The Body | Heb 10:20 | Signmanbob | 121152
I believe that you are accurate in saying that we enter the presence of God "because" of the blood and “through” the body. The blood of Jesus represents the life of Jesus. Lev. 17:14 For as for the life of all flesh, its blood is identified with its life. Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, You are not to eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off.' Because when we, by faith, accept Jesus as our savior our sinful life is covered by His blood or perfect life (as was represented by the blood of animal sacrifices covering the sin of Israel within the Arch of the Covenant from the on-looking Cherubim as it was sprinkled over the Mercy Seat) so that we can boldly draw near to God in "full assurance" knowing that when God looks upon us He no longer sees our sin or nakedness, but we are clothed in the perfect life of His beloved Son. This miraculous work was done “through” the humanity or physical body of Jesus. The fact that the second person of the Godhead was physically born on this earth of the Holy Spirit, lived a perfect life in obedience to the Father, suffered in physical pain and humiliation, died on the cross and was resurrected in the power of the Holy Spirit on the third day and ascended to the right hand of the Father where He now mediates on our behalf as our only true High Priest. Through His body He has blazed a new trail for us back to the Father that had been destroyed by the infectious sin of Adam. A trail that is readily available to each and every one of us. He truly is the ONLY WAY! I look at communion as a wonderful reminder that we are joined to Christ, redeemed to the Father by the blood and body sacrifice of the Son even as we exist in our daily lives. A reminder that I must daily walk worthy of the calling with which all Christians have been called. (ref. Col 1:10) |
