1 | What flavor is your vapor?! James 4:14 | 2 Tim 4:2 | angelinwaiting | 190902
Surfin4Jesus, you have prepared a good sermon and in reading it, I discovered grammar in it that needs a little polishing. Feel free to ignore them if you like but being raised in not only the Word but by very displined parents I feel I must speak out on the grammar. Good grammar holds attention so much better. After you begin "And the story goes: The first paragraph: "not only can they let everyone know that IS (should be ARE) and a little further on it says "seem to be the best news EVERY, (maybe be misspelled but should read EVER). 2nd paragraph: Please forgive me but I have never heard the term nay sayer and maybe a lot of people haven't so could you use a simpler term in conveying your message? 3rd paragraph: To be grammatically correct, it should be in the second sentence; While facing the dangers and hardships that await them in his new position, they will be faced with....Not two different sentences, the comma encourages you to continue without stopping your sentence. Following within the same sentence, it should read "glorious victories over their foes"... And in the last sentence of the the same paragraph I think it would be better delivered as "comrades ALTHOUGH others will surely laugh and scoff... Finally in the last paragraph the last sentence should begin Will YOU take countless others with you.... It is a good sermon and good luck with delivering your message. And if there is any members of the congregation that this applies to, then I pray they see it as truth and react to it. God Bless You!! |

Dear angelinwaiting - Since, as "they" say, one good turn deserves another, surely you won't mind my correcting your correction of surfin4Jesus' post. ..... In the last pararaph of your post you say, "...and if there is any members of the congregation..." This is grammatically incorrect. It should read "...and if there are any members of the congregation..." ..... Three things perhaps you should know: (1) We all of us live in glass houses, (2) there are others on this Forum who know a thing or two about English composition, and (3) it is especially unconvincing to attempt to correct grammatical errors of others with a post that contains grammatical errors of its own. --Hank
