1 | Is the Holy Spirit ever feminine gender? | 2 Tim 2:15 | SSC | 210248
Is the Holy Spirit ever referred to in the feminine gender in the New Testament? We are studying the book Adventures in Missing the Point by Brian McLaren and Tony Campolo. On page 34 it says that the Holy Spirit is referred to in the feminine gender and to check our New Testament Greek. I don't know Greek, but found PNEUMA in the Vines Expository Dictionary, which is neuter. Can anyone help me with this?

Hello SSC, There may be some input by ones more capable than myself on the gender references to the Holy Spirit in the Greek NT! However, I feel compelled to offer some well-intended advice not given lightly. 1. Why are you "studying" this book?; 2. I'd dimiss most of anything either one of them have to say- especially when it gets into the Greek NT! Both are VERY liberal in their theology. Campolo being basically a socialist, McLaren denying most (if not all)of the essential doctrines of Orthodox Christianity. (1 John 4:1-3) I strongly encourage you to run from this book my friend! Rather spend your time in study, prayer and meditation of God's Holy Word! You'll reap much benefit be so doing (Heb. 4:12) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
