1 | Confronting another about sin | 1 Tim 5:14 | drcinva | 165467
A girl in our church is very unhappily married with kids. She and I have recently become very good friends (I am male). I have learned that she has developed an enormous crush on me and is about to leave her husband in the hopes that I will become interested in her. She has told a couple of her friends about her feelings for me. I have never done anything to provoke these feelings in her. It has gotten out-of-hand (she calls and e-mails me many times a day and is starting to ask very leading questions). I have somewhat tried to avoid confronting her about this, but a friend told me that as a brother in Christ of hers, I am obligated to confront her because this is tanatmount to adultery. I seem to remember reading or hearing this also. Does anyone know where I might find references to this in the Bible? I am hoping that if I can find this and read it, I might find some inspiration on how to handle this situation...it cannot continue because she is about to make the wrong decision for the wrong reasons. Thank you.

Dear drcinva, First of all, I suggest you seek counseling from your pastor or other trusted and well learned church member, or family member, on how it may be best to handle your dilemma. Secondly, you need to be wise enough, discerning enough and mindful enough to eliminate yourself from situations that may lead to harm, no matter how unintentional and innocent it may have appeared in the onset. I pray in the meantime, you take this experience and learn from it and can use it to advise others as well. Proverbs 3:21-23 (KJV) 21My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: 22So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. 23Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. Proverbs 14:15-16 (KJV) 15The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going. 16A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident. WOS |
