1 | Abandon, not never get on | 1 Tim 4:1 | nathanbgerman | 234840
So the way I understand it, you're saying that the people Paul talks about who "will abandon the faith" are people who never really believed in the first place. I disagree with that for multiple reasons. First, try replacing the word "faith" with another word like "ship". I say "ship" because in the passage in 1 Timothy, Paul uses the word "abandon" and "abandon ship" is a common phrase. Anyway, consider this. In order to abandon a ship, one must first be on the ship. Second, I have a friend who knew somebody who once had a good strong relationship with God and a desire to become a missionary. However, she eventually had a lot of struggles with Christianity and is now a Muslim. How do you explain that? I had a third reason too, but I forgot it.

Not only Paul... Our Lord Jesus Christ says the same thing Matthew 13:1-23.
