1 | can a women preach and teach men | 1 Tim 2:12 | Hank | 85902
Scribe writes, "Give me the Joyce fans anyday, they are definitely saved and on the way to heaven." ..... I really must be getting older than I realize, because I'm no longer able to run biblical references with the speed and skill that once I knew. I can't even find "fans" (in the sense of enthusiasts) in my complete concordance, much less "Joyce fans." I tried looking up a reference that provided even the palest clue to who these Joyce fans might be who are definitely saved and on their way to heaven. But I failed. Perhaps it's a new wrinkle that has appeared in Scripture since I was a young lad of fourteen who was saved, not by being a Joyce fan, but by the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross. --Hank
2 | can a women preach and teach men | 1 Tim 2:12 | Scribe | 85906
I am simply saying that I have been around those that enjoy the teaching of Joyce Meyers, I know many of them, I have seen their daily lives, all of the ones I know of live holy lives and are full of the fruits of being saved, Love, joy, peace, holiness, purity etc. I have also been around many Lutherans as this writer that declares Joyce to be a false teacher teaching doctrines of demons.. Of all the Lutherans that I have been around, none of them were born again, none of them ever read the bible or had a clue what real doctrine was, whether it related to the descension of Christ into the lower parts of the earth or any other doctrine. ( I am sure there are Lutherans that do know doctrine but the ones I know do not) So it is not fair for me to paint with a broad brush all Lutherans just becuase all the one I know are dead in their sins going through the motions of church attendance but little else, neither is it fair to call Joyce a false teacher because she taught that certain things probably occurred during that time that she has now recanted. I look more at the fruit of peoples lives to tell if their doctrine is correct. May God bless you as you study His word.
3 | can a women preach and teach men | 1 Tim 2:12 | Hank | 85911
Scribe writes: "I look more at the fruit of peoples lives to tell if their doctrine is correct." ..... The Bereans "searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." (Acts 17:11). "Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves" (Matthew 7:15). The only infallible guide for the Christian faith and practice is God-breathed Scripture. It is profitable for doctrine (2 Timothy 3:16). The way men lead their lives is a poor standard by which to measure doctrine. I have known men who presented an outward appearance of moral uprightness, generosity, and kindness. But some were cult members, some agnostics, others atheists. Their lives were a singularly poor yardstick by which to measure whether their "doctrine" was correct. ...... One more point, if I may. How is it possible to look at a Lutheran and know for sure that he is "dead in his sins"? The way I see it, if one views it as unfair to call Joyce Meyer a false teacher, then it seems unfair to come down so hard on the poor Lutherans. Showing that Joyce Meyer teaches false doctrine is fairly easy. Showing that Lutherans, even if you limit them to the ones you know, are dead in their sins would, I submit, be considerably more difficult. To say that Joyce Meyer teaches false doctrine is not judging her salvation but evaluating her teaching. To say that "all Lutherans I know are dead in their sins" is not an evaluation of their teaching but a judgment call concerning their salvation. I surely believe that you did not really mean it so harshly as that. --Hank

Hank: You make a good point when you write: "The way I see it, if one views it as unfair to call Joyce Meyer a false teacher, then it seems unfair to come down so hard on the poor Lutherans." ____________________ "Why are you dividing the Body this way? Why are you attacking Christians? These people love the Lord." [This is a question that, in various forms, I have repeatedly been asked, especially when I dare to question the teachings of certain TV preachers and others who end up teaching things that are a bit bizarre and weird. --Radioman2] 'If you've been around for a while and understand the issue of tactics here--especially the suicide tactic-- you notice that this objection immediately defeats itself because this person is calling me on the air and publicly telling me that I am wrong for speaking on the air about other people who are wrong. In other words, they are accusing me of doing the very thing that they are in the process of doing.' ____________________ "Christian:" A Sound or a Word? by Gregory Koukl This post is an excerpt from the above commentary.
