1 | Does God give faith? | 1 Tim 1:14 | DocTrinsograce | 154043
Dear Diomede, You wrote, "even though I don't fully understand I still believe and so that is my faith." No, actually that is an expression of faith. Faith always manifests itself in head, heart, hands, and habits. In otherwords, it is always expressed. Romans 12:3, 6; Ephesians 6:23, etc. tell us that faith is a gift of God. In Him, Doc |

2 | Does God give faith? | 1 Tim 1:14 | Rev.D | 154045
3For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. Romans 12:3 God gives every person a “measure of faith” I believe this happens at the very moment we are born. This is the faith that we are using when we accept Jesus into our hearts. 8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:8 Notice we are saved Through Faith, and that this faith we are saved through, is not our own but a gift from God, or given to us by God. The “measure of faith” that God gives every individual does not have to stop at the initial giving of faith by God. In fact we can increase our faith, God will give us more and more faith according to His word. 17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 We can literally increase our faith by the simple act of reading God’s written word, The Bible. The more we read the word the greater our faith and the stronger our faith will become, God will increase our faith but we must do our part and read His Holy word daily ! There is also a supernatural impartation of faith given to us by God, usually in times of great trial and or spiritual battle. This faith is a manifestation of the Holy spirit. And is one of the nine gifts of the spirit according to I Corinthians 12 1Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant..... 4Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 1 Corinthians 12:1, 4-11 This spiritual gift of faith is above and beyond the faith God has given and the faith you have increased through reading God’s word. It comes only as the Spirit wills. But the good news is we can increase our faith whenever we want if and when we read Gods word. So to answer your question, Yes God does give us more faith. © Copyright 2005 Christopher Derring, aka, www.spiritfire-ministries.com ,All Rights Reserved. |
