The predicted great falling away Let no one deceive or beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the apostasy comes first [unless the predicted great falling away of those who have professed to be Christians has come], and the man of lawlessness (sin) is revealed, who is the son of doom (of perdition), [Dan. 7:25; 8:25; I Tim. 4:1.] (AMPLIFIED 2 Thessalonians 2:3) AMPLIFIED 1 Timothy 4:1 BUT THE [Holy] Spirit distinctly and expressly declares that in latter times some will turn away from the faith, giving attention to deluding and seducing spirits and doctrines that demons teach, |

3 | I think you misunderstood my question. | 2 Thess 2:3 | My_Merritt123 | 147506
My question is, what is the difference between the falling away that has been happening ever since Adam and Eve and "the Rebellion" that is spoken of in Thessalonians? I am not sure that anyone can really answer this. I don't know. I have been wondering about it myself. Will this falling away be world-wide? Will we be able to recognize it? Has it already begun to happened? In 1 Timothy 4:1, there has already been "some" turning away from the faith. Specifically, I think about this push to allow homosexual marriages inside of the church? You know, this is a type of rebellion. Could this be the start of "The Rebellion"? Or will "The Rebellion" spoken of in Thessalonians be something big and noticeable? |

4 | I think you misunderstood my question. | 2 Thess 2:3 | EdB | 147519
My_Merritt123 The rebellion we see in the garden is one where Adam and Eve refuse to accept what God has told them. In effect they were going to prove God wrong. The rebellion in 2 Thess 2:3 is one where the people that know the truth will fall into apathy. They will have let the cares of this world choke out the truth in their life. Yes it will be recognizable, and I think we are seeing it today. Many that know the truth (having been raised in the church) are apathetic in their walk. They stopped going to church, sin is not something to be avoided but rather justified as "my right" or "what harm does it cause". There is also anothe aspect to this falling away and it is falling away from the truth again due to apathy. In many many churches the truth of God is not being taught today, instead it has been replaced with a humanistic message "Be all you want to be." In other words we are not here to serve and worship God but we are here to be served and we will worship God enough for Him to give us what we want. Another way of saying this is we worship God for what's in it for us not because we have a genunine desire and love for God and want to worship Him. Many churhes have learned that growth is directly tied into serving this message and that is what the people are being feed. This message is accepted for two reasons first it tickles the ears. Everything is going to be rosy and secondly because we have grown so lazy and apathetic that we won't read and search the scriptures for the the truth. Anone with half a mind can read 1 and 2 Peter and know God never promised Christians a rosy life here on earth. EdB |
