1 | What's really going on? | 1 Thess 5:18 | prayon | 125074 | ||
Greetings Mommapbs, Our deliverence is from much more than death. Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Surely He hath born our griefs has to do with sickness. All sickness taken on cross - meets us where we are at - Heals us so that we will hear Him And carried our sorrows - has to do with emotional pain); suffering (Mental suffering - deals with our mind) Wounded for our transgressions - breach of relationship Man / Sin relationship breached spiritually (Make Him Lord and breach is restored) Bruised for our iniquities - deals with Past, present, and future - sin separated from God; Chastised for our peace - Shalom means peace or prosperity has to do with our wellness; safety wholeness; completeness His stripes we are healed - (Rapha:healed) - speaking in the causative sense refers to the body Healed - causes us to walk in health so we will serve Him Jehovah Rapha - One who heals you. prayon |

Prayon - God is sovereign; our faith does not direct the hand of God. After reading your post to WTB, if one of your loved ones came down with diabetes, would you declare that they lacked faith? Would you tell them that they are "healed" and deny them insulin injections to keep it under control? Illness is not the result of a lack of faith in God or His ability or desire to heal. I believe that the "name it and claim it" philosophy you have advocated to WTB could be injurious to others both physically and spiritually. mommapbs |

I agree with Prayon that as believers, we MUST exercise and walk in great faith, regardless of the circumstances. After all, that's what "walking by faith, and not by sight" means. However, mommapbs brings up an equally valid point in that God's plan and purposes are much higher than what we can know at the time they're unfolding. I mean, Lazarus DIED after being sick... not from a lack of faith, but because it was God's plan that Jesus would raise him in front of many witnesses (including Pharisees), that God would be glorified. I believe exercised and growing faith is vital to all believers in their walk with Jesus Christ. And I believe Jesus Christ is still very much the Master Physician and Healer. His plan may include a season of illness or crisis - but it's for our own good to be sure. Isaiah 38:17 - after King Hezekiah's life was extended, and he had been very close to death, responded: "Indeed it was for my own peace that I had great bitterness; but You have lovingly delivered my soul from the pit of corruption, for You have cast all my sins behind Your back."
